Pricing Extras, Solar with Tank on Ground to Heat Pump
Split system solars are out. Heat Pumps are in!
Why Change?
- When replacing a split system, all the plumbing and electrics are typically setup ready for a heat pump.
- Heat Pumps are similar in efficiency to traditional solar and still attract a Government Rebate
- Removing Solar Hot Water panels frees up space for Solar Power Generation!
- Heat Pumps work better than any other hot water system when combined with Solar Power Generation
- No boosting needed in winter!
- Cheaper upfront!
Our quotes cover a system price with valves and then separately a standard install cost replacing a gas or electric system in the same spot. Typical Extra Costs:
Plumbing
None
As all the plumbing is at ground level already, and the tank is going in the same spot, it really is a standard install
Why not send us a picture anyway, just to be sure!
Electrics
From $0
- There should already be a power point there. For plug-in models Envirosun, iStore, Dux and Stiebel, it is good to go!
- There may be a requirement to Junction Box / Terminate an electrical booster circuit, if this can be done under the plumbers restricted electrical license then there maybe a small $20 fee for materials.
- If the heat pump specifies a dedicated circuit, like Apricus or Reclaim Energy, then more works will be required. Generally a new breaker and isolator starting from $330
Solar Removal is Optional. Pricing from $110.
Redundant Panels can be left on roof permanently OR removed at a later stage (when weather permits)
When installing your new heat pump, YES, the solar panels can be left on the roof drained / decommissioned.
Removal can be done if and when weather conditions are favourable, at minimum, it requires a 2 man crew. If a tile roof make sure you have spare tiles!
Further extra costs can be expected if:
- you have a frame under the panels
- the solar hot water system is surrounded by solar power panels
- the tiles are brittle
- it’s a double storey
- it’s a roof pitch above 25 degrees
If your install is urgent, and the roof conditions are wet, we strongly recommend leaving the solar removal for summer. The team can confirm the removal cost whilst they are installing your new heat pump.
